The Bare Necessities of Life

Welcome to your daily dose of spiritual growth — courtesy of the New Living Translation (Bible).

Today we’re continuing our (week-long) series on how to deal with worry by diving into Matthew 6:25.

That is why I tell you not to worry about everyday life—whether you have enough food and drink, or enough clothes to wear. Isn’t life more than food, and your body more than clothing?

As you can see, God wants you to understand that life is much bigger than the bare necessities.

The very concept of growing up, “moving out” and taking care of yourself is what your earthly parents want you to do.

But God doesn’t want you to live a life of self-reliance — He wants you to lean on Him for everything.

For salvation, for comfort, and for hope.

Think about it, if you believe that God sent his Son from Heaven to save you/us. Why wouldn’t He also take care of you until you go home to be with Him?
