The Cure-all

The media’s maniacal infusion of fact, fiction, opinion, and fake news has shaken not stirred an elixir being sipped around the world.

It has fueled the current pandemic and claimed the lives of every human on the planet — if not physically, then mentally, and emotionally.

The good news is, we have a cure. If I tell you what it is, will you believe me?

There’s a song, originally made famous by Hal David, Burt Bacharach, and Jackie DeShannon, then further popularized by the great Dionne Warrick…“What the world needs now, is love, sweet love, it’s the only thing that there’s just too little of”

That song and those lyrics have never been more true than they are right now.

The truth is, we are all capable of loving — we were born of it. We often allow pride, prejudice, jealousy, idolatry, and a thirst for power to rob us of its application, but the Bible tells us that the cure for every human ill on earth is the ability to LOVE.

The cure is LOVE (itself), but we all have the ability because God put it there.

Love never gives up. Love cares more for others than for self. Love doesn’t want what it doesn’t have. Love doesn’t strut, Doesn’t have a swelled head, Doesn’t force itself on others, Isn’t always “me first,” Doesn’t fly off the handle,

Doesn’t keep score of the sins of others, Doesn’t revel when others grovel, Takes pleasure in the flowering of truth, Puts up with anything, Trusts God always, Always looks for the best, Never looks back, But keeps going to the end. Love never dies.

1st Corinthians 13:4-8

. . .

And this hope will never disappoint us. We know this because God has poured out his love to fill our hearts through the Holy Spirit he gave us.
