Keep Your Eye on the Prize

So we have many people of faith around us. Their lives tell us what faith means. So let us run the race that is before us and never give up. We should remove from our lives anything that would get in the way. And we should remove the sin that so easily catches us.

Hebrews 12:1 (ICB)

Life is both complicated and straightforward.

The difficulty is in denying our nature and letting God’s Word inform our decisions.

The ease of it is that we have a ‘paint-by-numbers’ instruction manual at our fingertips filled with Jesus’ example of how to navigate your life.

Obviously, you’re going to fall short of perfection, but if you follow the example He’s already arranged for you, it’s a much easier proposition.

Look — being Christ-like takes discipline, and discipline requires servility to God’s will, which calls on you to be humble. The more humble you are, the more you become like Jesus, and less like you.

I think that if we can commit to removing the distractions that take our eye off the prize, we’re more likely to endure and reach our purpose.
