First Things First
But first be concerned about God’s kingdom and his righteousness, and everything you need will be provided for you as well. Matt. 6:33
It’s a new year, and I bet you (like most people) have fresh new goals and a renewed sense of ambition.
Instead of falling into the same rut you were in last year, you’ve decided to make a few changes to your routines.
Maybe you’ve challenged yourself to be more active, eat healthier, and be mindful of how you spend your time. Or perhaps you’ve committed to spending more time with family and friends or even volunteering.
Your goals may include the following:
– Running a marathon
– Learning a new language
– Getting out of debt
– Starting a business
– Or reading 20 books by year’s end
No matter what you’ve decided, you’ve probably come to realize that it’s going to take a little more than willpower and positive thinking to change the trajectory of your life.
You’ll need a power greater than yourself to get started and, more importantly, to stay on track with your objectives.
God is that power. No matter your circumstances, how you feel, or the temptations that WILL come your way — He is the only one who can carry you through and give you a fresh new start every day.
In fact, God promises to give you everything you need when you make Him the most important part of your life. When you prioritize God’s plans and purpose over your thoughts and desires, you will discover new possibilities, new dreams, and a renewed sense of determination.
Once your actions align with God’s will, He promises to direct your path, give you peace, and grant you an abundant, fulfilling life.
One way to discover God’s purpose and plans for your life is by spending more time with Him in complete silence. Just sit there and meditate on the most recent scripture you’ve read. You don’t have to know it word-for-word. Just be still and allow God to speak to your heart.
When you surrender to God and invite Him to do the impossible, He will fill you with the wisdom and power you need to reach your destiny.
Remember, God wants to be your one-and-only source of strength and wisdom. So if you bring all of your anxiety, insecurities, hopes, and dreams to Him, you will never have to face anything alone again.
