How To Take Control of Your Life

You thought this was it—your big break. You just made an offer to buy your first home, you’re about to sign a book deal, or you received a fantastic new job offer with the most influential company in your industry.

Then at the last minute, it all falls apart.

Someone swooped-in and purchased the house you wanted, the publisher no longer loves your manuscript, or that incredible job offer turned out to be a bust—and just like that, you’re right back where you started.

Unfortunately, disappointment is a part of life, and if you’re not careful, it can leave you feeling broken and bitter. However, as a child of God, your faith isn’t in circumstances or people. Instead, your trust is on solid ground, in God.

People can plan what they want to do, but it is the Lord who guides their steps. (Proverbs 16:9)

Remember, God’s plan for your life is always greater than your own. And no matter how fast your world seems to move, His plan will never change.

It’s all about growth, perspective, and attitude. So when things don’t go as you’ve planned, you should seek God with all your heart (Jeremiah 29:13), and speak life to power in your health, profession, and relationships.

Negative people and society-at-large will try to bring you down and keep you from focusing on God’s plan, but remember that God is here to help you overcome obstacles and use difficult situations to develop your character.

So, how do you take control and not let negativity dominate your life? How do you control your anxiety, depression, loneliness, frustration, anger, and negative thoughts?

You don’t—you relinquish control to God. You let God renew your mind and focus every bit of your being on His will.

In doing so, God will deliver you from the difficulties and hardships of this world (Psalm 91:14) while revealing His deep, abiding love for you and the plan He has for your life.

Put God first—then allow Him to work in and through you, as the writer and molder of your destiny.
